Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a breakout below by bottom lip. I have had cold sore most of my life. This cluster is itchy, like cold sores, and blisters are forming. My son has, visual diagnosed, impetigo. Butbi can't tell if it's a cold sore breakout from stress do to a wedding I'm preparing for, or impetigo. It started itching before I noticed any bumps, within 4 hours I saw flesh folded bumps starting to appear. And now 8 hours later I see small blisters. How can I tell the difference because this feels, exactly like any cold sore outbreak I have had. Itching is the only symptom besides the blisters. I have been using the mupirocin since first signs. Can you help me. I have a bridal shower tomorrow and a wedding next weekend.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy sore blisters on the lower which could be due to lipbite on lip which caused local trauma in that area which in turn caused rupturing of salivary gland ducts, which caused accumulation of mucus in that area, it could be due to dehydration and viral infection. Need not to worry.
I would suggest you to take a few preventive measures such as apply tea tree oil on it, it will cause shrinkage of mucocele. Apply alum for 3 times a day for around 2 weeks it will completely go away. Keep cleaning area with Listerine mouth wash.
If your symptoms didn't resolve in around 1 month you can get it surgically removed as well. Cryotherpay and laser are other treatment options but after proper oral examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
