What Causes Itchy Sores On Arms After A Cat Scratch?

Hi. I have small sores on my arms that will not heal. They started out as scratches from my cat when we were playing. I picked at the scabs, they bled, crusted over, but will not go away. They are dark colored with white centers and slightly raised. I have used a variety of healing salves on them. They do itch and bleed at times. I also have one on my thigh too. It was a small lesion like a mosquito bite that I scratched at. Should I be making an appointment with a dermatologist?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Chronic non-healing cutaneous lesions after cat scratch can be part of zoonotic condition as cat scratch fever or other cutaneous lesions and the same must be evaluated with a dermatologist for precise care and healing.

* Till that time, an application of aloe vera gel is best to apply over the lesion for primary healing.

Along with that keep the blood sugar under control to prevent secondary bacterial infection of the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
