What Causes Itchy Sores On The Head?
my boyfriend is 47 and has some kind of red sores on his head that when you scratch or squeeze a clear pus like fluid is present. he is itching or scratching at them and says they hurt ..hurt like pressure or needs to be squeezed but it looks like open sores to me and not like a zit or anything with a head to be drained out . what could this be shingles or a rash its.not an allergic reaction, and has spread around his head or scalp in the last 3 days. says it is very painful

Itchy pus filled sores on head can be due to a bacterial skin infection called folliculitis or it can be due to shingles.
Follliculitis is a bacterial skin infection of hair follicles caused after shaving or inadequate hygiene.
It can be managed by
-topical antibiotic ointments containing hydrocortisone for relief from itching and inflammation.
-Washing hair regularly with warm water and immediately drying.
-oral antibiotics like amoxicillin thrice a day/cephalexin twice a day for 5-7 days can be used.
shingles are usually associated with redness,tingling sensation at the site of blister.it may be associated with low grade fever.
It can be treated with anti virals like valacyclovir thrice a day for 7-10 day.
Above lesions need to be shown to dermatologist to confirm diagnosis by physical examination.
