What Causes Itchy Spots On The Mid Upper Back?

The skin on my middle to upper back tends to feel itchy at times. I have had this sensation the last few weeks. It covers a wide area with no specific itchy spots. I generally do not notice it except when changing cloths. I do not believe it is from dryness of skin which I do experience on my lower legs in the winter but control with Lubriderm body lotion application after each shower. Any thoughts?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy spots on the mid upper back which seems to be due to hair follicle infection by bacteria and as sebaceous glands are abundant there so clogging of skin pores by bacteria, debris and dead decaying substances. It can also occur due to psoriasis , contact dermatitis or skin infection.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain cleanliness of area and keep it dry. You should take diet rich in multivitamins and apply betnovate cream 2-3 times a day. You should apply topical antibacterial ointment mupirocin on it.

Avoid touching or pricking it. You should apply vitamin E Oil at night as well. Wear loose clothes. Take oral antibiotic course as well. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor may prescribe clindamycin or anti histamine .
