What Causes Itchy Vagina With History Of Suffering From Yeast Infection?

Hello. I had a yeast infection and I was using the 6 treatment vaginal injection cream. I stopped use after 5 treatments as I got my period. Now I have been done my period for about a week and I am starting to get itchy again. Because I didn t finish the dose, will I be resistant to the cream? Should I buy another treatment for the yeast infection I have now? Thank you!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
The treatment for yeast infection should be continued in spite of having periods... during periods blood being a good medium for growth, yeast flourishes to increase the infection & symptoms.
I would advise for oral medication ( Fluconazol 2 pills at a time after food )along with local cream application( less chances of resistance with a single break.). The treatment should be taken by both sex partners. & avoid sex till complete relief.
Thanks.
