Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small white patch on my palm underneath my skin. It itches a little, and I tried putting rubbing alcohol and peroxide on it and it had no effect at all. I tried removing it by scratching it but had no luck. What is this patch and should I b worried about it? Please help!
White patches on the skin can occur as a result of allergies, vitiligo or psoriasis. These are the first diagnosis to be ruled out.
Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder caused due to destruction of melanocytes which is colour producing pigment of the body.Steroids and immunosuppressants are used for treatment.
Psoriasis is also an autoimmune disorder where the skin cells proliferate very fast leading rashes or plaques.
Other causes to rule out are fungal infections or nutirtional deficiencies.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
