What Causes Jelly Like Substance In Menstrual Flow?

Started my period two days ago, and I have just found this huge piece of beige couloured, jelly like substance in my sanitary towel, but it was really tough! It looked like an intestine or something or a HUGE globule of fat? I have had the contraceptive injection once, and i'm really worried now.
Any ideas?
