What Causes Joint Pain With Swelling In Hands, Wrists And Fingers?

Hi, i have had some pain in mainly my hands, wrist and fingers mostly joint pain with some swelling but it seems to move around alot and the type of pain varies from sore swollen joints that feels like it extends along the bone (as in not just in the joint area) but sometimes (especially in my left wrist) it keeps cracking and can be quite agonsising and feels like its about to snap, but when it cracks it feels so much better, for about 10 to 60 seconds then it comes back again each time the pain level can vary dramatically from slight ache that i can ignore to cannot move or use my hand/wrist until it cracks again. i have also felt extreme heat down my forearms. (sometimes it feels like i have something wrong with my nerve system, sometimes my joints, sometimes the full bone) in addition, i have briefly and rarely felt slightly similar aches in my knees, ankles and toes but this has only appeared twice and only lasted about 1-2 days. i have checked online at arthritis as my father has arthritis but the syptoms don t appear to be fully accurate to what i am feeling unless i am understanding it incorrectly.... i am a 35 year old female with no recent injuries

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have joint pain with swelling in hands, wrists and fingers . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction , multiple sclerosis , sinusitis , diabetes , hay fever , sleep apnea or mononucleosis. I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may order allergy test , blood test or CT scan for sinusitis . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with analgesic or may refer you to ENT specialist for sinusitis , viral infection or endocrinologist for diabetes . Doctor may also order sleep study and may recommend CPAP machine after sleep study or refer you to allergy specialist . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
