What Causes Knee Muscle Tightness And Dull Pain?

Recently I have what feels like a constriction or tightness of the muscle behind my left knee. It went away and now it's back, along with a large know to the left of my knee. It almost feels like a Charlie horse that you can't relieve from your muscle. Not particularly painful as it is a dull annoying pain and tightness.
