What Causes Knee Pain With Flu Symptoms?

Yesterday my husbands knee started hurting more than right after knee replacement last nov. He developed flu symptoms. Today his temp went to 106. He was conscious but out of it. Had mOtor control and could say birthday but not age. He's in emergency now. What could be wrong
