What Causes Knee Swelling And Soreness In The Elderly?

What could be causing swelling and soreness on the backside ( armpit ) of my knee? 56 year old female. It just started this morning. On Tamoxifen. Has been sitting a lot, traveling past two weeks. No trauma or stressor that she recalls. Blood clot? Also has a history of occasional leg cramps during the night.

Hi. It could either be a clot or something called a Baker's cyst and she needs immediate evaluation for this since if it is a clot it could lead to a life-threatening pulmonary embolus
