What Causes Knee To Pop In And Out Of Place With Pain?

I m on the cross country and now track team at school. Lately when I m running my knee will pop out of place and then pop back into place. It is causing me a lot of pain during and after practice which is not good because our season just started. What could this be? And what can I do?

Hello,

You are having popping in your knee joint along with pain which may be a sign of meniscal injury which is caused by excessive wear and tear as in your case.

It is advisable to get an MRI of the knee joint done as soon as possible and get yourself examined by an orthopaedic surgeon.

If you have a meniscal tear it will have to be repaired surgically. Meanwhile you should avoid running as it will cause further injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
