Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lack Of Appetite And A Soft Spot On Head After A Head Injury?
My 2 year old son fell at his grandmothers house a week and a half ago. He fell from a bar stool and landed on his back on the tile floor. His head hit pretty hard. I expected to see a knot pop up but never did. He acted a little sleepy afterward but no other symptoms. He didn t want to eat or anything for a while either. About 15-20 minutes later he acted fine. So I thought nothing else about it until yesterday I noticed a really soft spot on his head. What could this be? Should I have it checked out?
If there was no loss of consciousness, persistent headache or vomiting, there is nothing to worry. The soft spot represents a resolving superficial contusion. This will not cause any long term effects or poor appetite. Stay relaxed. If at all needed, you can give him paracetamol for pain relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
