What Causes Lack Of Appetite While Suffering From Inguinal Hernia?
My Mom was diagnose with inguinal hernia last week and we are to see a surgeon this Thurs. Jan 7th, she is 83 yrs old. In the last 2 days though she has been really really sick to her stomach and has to take 2 Ondansetron 4mg about every 5 hrs and she don t feel like eating - she got down 1 can of Chicken noodle soup, crackers and 1/2 7 up this morning but only could get down 1/2 can chicken noodle soup and a cracker this evening - do we have time to wait to see the surgeon this Thurs. ?? or is this normal?
Unless the inguinal hernia is obstructed or infected in some way, it is not likely the cause of these symptoms. Inguinal hernias are not associated with these complications regularly.
It is possible that she may have a bacterial or viral infection of the gastrointestinal tract. These are normally treated by fluid replacement mainly as well as medications to help with nausea.
If you wish , she can see her GP for assessment and not wait to see her surgeon.
I hope this helps
