Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lack Of Bowel Movement Despite Taking Miralax And Dulcolax?
Because I have occasional severe stomach cramps, I had a CT scan last Tuesday for which I had oral barium sulfate. I have not had a bowel movement since; I tend to have a b.m. 3x/week. I have eaten normally, had plenty of fluids, fiber, etc. I have also been taking Miralax since Friday. Last night I took two Dulcelax. Still no results. My abdomen is slightly distended and I am experiencing on/off mild cramps. The CT scan showed that my anatomy is a bit unusual such that I could have a tendency toward a twisted sigmoid colon. I am 64, otherwise healthy. What do you recommend in addition to calling my doctor?
According to the history you provide I recommend you to discuss with your doctor and to exclude colon problems better to do a colonoscopy examination. After having the result the doctor will advise you further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
