Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I've been married to my husband for 26 years. In Feb he had an extra marital affair with another woman for 5 months. He has now finished the affair. Prior to the affair he has never had a problem getting or maintaining an erection. Since the affair, he does not have feelings to have sex with me anymore, cannot get an erection and when he gets a mild erection, it gets soft once he starts having sex. He tells me he loves me and wants to have sex but cannot get the feelings to have sex and therefore cannot get an erection for sex. He says if the woman he had the affair with walked naked in the room he would probably get an erection... but maintains he does not love her, he loves me and wants to be with me. I need a diagnosis on this whole situation. Could he be telling the truth or could it be that he still wants to be sexually involved with this other woman and just cannot have an erection for me? Could it be guilt, stress? Will he ever be able to get an erection for me in the future now that he has finished the relationship with this woman?
Erectile dysfunction is best treated with the medication Viagra (sildenafil). This is very likely to improve your erection quality and duration. I would talk with a local doctor about prescribing this to you.
