Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lack Of Interest In The Activities After Withdrawal Of Adderall?
I have been taking adderall for 7 years, now that I have been taken off of adderall I feel absolutely no enjoyment from activities that I used to engage in such as computer games ,eating and anything else that would cause a release in dopamine. Is it possible that I have damaged dopamine receptors, or will I eventually go back to normal?
As per my clinical experience, the adderall is a central nervous system stimulant containing Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine used in variety of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. The lack of interest in the activities is in concern with withdrawal effect of Adderall. There should be smooth tapering of the dose of Adderall rather than acute stoppage with such side effects difficult to handle.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
