What Causes Lack Of Menstrual Periods While On Microgynon?

I was placed on microgynon to treat hermonal imbalance. I stopped taking it for about 9 months and of that 9 months I only had a period once. I feel healthy and normal, could there be something else wrong? I want to start trying for a baby soon, would this have any effect on the outcome?
