What Causes Lack Of Sleep Due To Stomach Or Headache For A 14 Year Old Girl?
My 14 year old daughter often complains of not sleeping well, stomach aches, and/or headaches. She has not had her first period yet (although her 12 year old sister has). She has only a few good friends, and is a little on the shy side even though she will not admit that. She and her sister get along fine most of the time, but the 12 year old does better socially and academically. The 14 year old might be jealous of her on both accounts. Do you know what can be the cause of her ache/sleep problems? Thank you.
It is quite possible that your daughter is unhappy with her personal life both socially and academically. Talk to her, find out her interests and motivate her to enroll in activities or sports that interest her. Try to avoid comparisons between the 2 children as it can lead to low self esteem in the older child and could even lead to depression. Regular exercise daily 5 days a week might help.
Other causes of headache and stomaches could be migraines or acidity respectively. Get hemoglobin levels checked to rule out anaemia. Give her well balanced meals , including fruits , vegetables, nuts etc. Let her drink 8 glasses of warm water a day. For the stomach ache, avoid oily, spicy or fatty food. Do not skip meals. Eat food at regular intervals.
