What Causes Large Blood Clot Discharge From Vagina After IUD Removal?

I had an iud removed in may. Originally it was placed to control heavy bleeding. I have only had 10 days without bleeding since and today i expelled four rather large clots-one golf ball sized. I can t get an appointment with my dr for several days should i go to er or an on call place?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Passing large clots from vagina is not a healthy sign and needs evaluation. It could have been as a result of infection or allergic reaction to the previously placed IUD.
Kindly get the following tests done and cosult Gynecologist at the earliest.
1. Serum FSH, LH and prolactin levels.
2. Ultrasound scan of pelvis.
It would be able to mange accordingly. There is no point in waiting for long.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
