Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a large bruise over the side of knee seems to be due to rupture to small blood vessels leading to spillage of blood into the soft tissues leading to bruising and hematoma formation and at times the hematma gets encapsulated with inflammatory cells, broken fibres and ruptured blood vessels and inflamed tissue leading to a hard lump and it takes a comparitively longer time for almost a few months to resolve..
As you are able to walk easily there does not seems to be any bone fracture..
I would suggest you to apply heparin containing gel over the swelling and hard lump.
Do alternate warm and cool compresses..
You can also apply a numbing gel if there is pain..
Take Naproxen or diclofenac if there is pain..
Elevate you leg while lying down..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
