What Causes Large Clotting And Excessive Bleeding During Menstruation?

Hello Im a 19 year old female. Ive recently gone on holidays and have had no contraception with me my boyfriend and I had to use the morning after pill twice in one month and that was almost 2 months ago, Im on my period at the moment and have got large menstrual clots.. I took my tampon out after only having it in for 3 hours and when i took it out it was as if i was peeing blood, my period was that excessive. Is this normal?
