What Causes Large Red Welts Or Rash Like In Children?
My nephew whose 8 is in hospital with large red welts or rash looks like he ate peanuts but he s not allergic. He s had a cold that wouldn t go away and Drs gave him amoxicillin which he haas taken before. He also has fever. Rash started on legs but spread all over since yesterday. His eyes swollen shut. Drs can t figure it out. Has him on steroids. Monitoring him. Could it be enterovirus d68?
Hello, Thanks for the query, He might have developed acute urticaria. It is an allergic condition. Anything including food, cloth, change in climate, pollens etc can cause urticaria. You need to find out the cause. nuts are one of the biggest cause of allergy. Treatment can be with oral anti histamines. Steroids like prednisolone are also helpful but cannot be used for long. Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
