What Causes Late Periods And Negative Pregnancy Tests?

My period isnt regular but I always know It will come between the end of the month or the very start. My period is at least 6 days late. I took a test and It was negative. I also get symtpoms of my period a while before it happens and I have not gotten any yet. Do you have any Idea what could be going on?
