What Causes Left Flank Pain During Defecation?
I am a 37 year old female. I have been experiencing left sided flank pain while having a bowel movement. When it first began two years ago it only happened when I menstruated. Now it is happening almost every time I have a bowel movement. Any thoughts on what can cause this?

The pain you feel on left flank every time you have a bowel movement could be related to colitis especially if you've been constipated.
Get checked by a gastroenterologist, run abdominal ultrasound and colonoscopy to determine the right diagnosis for appropriate treatment.
