What Causes Left Hand Pain While Being Treated For Prostate Cancer?

Hi. My father in law has been struggling with Prostate cancer for about ten years. It is now in his bones and he is struggling thru chemo again. He has been complaining of pain in his left hand and he can only close his hand about half way when trying to make a fist. His hand is swollen and his oncologist checked and found no blood clots. He mentioned arthritis....he has never been diagnosed with arthritis. Dr. Is sending for ct scan but my question is can chemo cause inflammation or arthritis? Is there any connection?

Hello,

The chemotherapy can lead osteoporosis like condition usually, not arthritis.

But kindly mention the name of the chemotherapeutic drug you have been given to comment further.

You need to investigate with a CT scan. It will help in rule out underlying cause for swelling and metastasis if occurred.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
