I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN INTERMITTENT THROBBING DISCOMFORT/PAIN IN MY UPPER LEFT QUADRANT UNDER MY LEFT RIBS, FOR THE PAST WEEK.
IT TENDS TO GET SLIGHTLY WORSE AT TIMES, BUT NOTHING UNBEARABLE YET. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF WIERD FEELING BEFORE, BUT IT DOES CONCERN ME. I AM PLANNING TO GO GET IT CHECKED OUT. I JUST WANTED TO GET AN OPINION FIRST.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes it is better to get this left sided chest discomfort checked. See, heart diseases are commonly cause left sided left chest discomfort. So better to first rule out heart diseases. So consult doctor and get done 1. Blood pressure monitoring 2. Ecg 3. 2d echo. If all these are normal then no need to worry for major heart diseases. Sometimes, musculoskeletal pain can be the cause for such chest discomfort. So apply warm water pad on affected areas. Take painkiller like ibuprofen. Don't worry, you will be alright but first rule out heart diseases. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
