What Causes Left-sided Chest Pain And Vomiting After Eating?

I have a bit of an odd question. Lately, there are times after eating fast food where I ll start having a pain on the left side of my chest and taking deep breaths can make the pain trigger or it will be hard to take a deep breath. I usually think it s just gas buildup in my lungs as I feel the constant need to burp, but sometimes those burps make me want to vomit. Usually after vomiting, I feel a bit better but this time after vomiting, I think I may have scratched my throat. The next day I had a sore throat most of the day but was able to eat my food just fine. Today I ordered some food from Dominos and was doing fine until I started finishing off the sandwich. Then the constant need to burp and throw up came back. I went ahead and vomited but my throat has a sharp scratchy pain in the back. Should I be worried or is this something that just a little rest can help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to conditions like gastroenteritis.

As first line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
