Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My lower stomach/groin area hurts. It started as a lower ache in the lower left area. I have been urinating more frequently and cramping occasionally. The cramping subsides when I pass gas or have a bowel movement. I have a history of colitis and have had flare ups. That usually has been cramping more in my midsection. I usually go a bland diet for that, chicken noodle soup, crackers, lots of water, etc. Eventually, the symptoms subside.
Frequent urination and cramping sensation can be due to urinary tract infection (UTI). I suggest you to get urine routine examination and culture sensitivity to look for infection and selection of most appropriate antibiotics. Cramping can also be due to colitis for which you need to consult a gastroenterologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
