What Causes Leg Buckling In A Person Suffering With Herniated Disc?

My left leg began buckling a year and a half ago. I had back surgery October 16, 1915. I have herniated discs at all lumbar levels. They removed a disc that was causing spinal stenosis . Now my right leg is buckling also. The doctor said I have probably done permanent nerve damage. I am unable to do any weight bearing for more than five to ten minutes. I am now taking a steroid to help the right leg and it does feel much better but my left leg remains unchanged. What are your thoughts as to my prognosis?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The buckling with inability to maintain posture as weight bearing or routine walking can be part of sciatic great saphenous or other nerve damage, avascular necrosis of hip bone via chronic steroid consumption or others.

If any of the orthopedic work up of an x-ray, MRI plates or nerve conduction study reports are available to share with me, it would be of immense help to co relate on clinical grounds in follow up chat. Awaiting for your response.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
