What Causes Leg Cramps While On Spironolactone And Synthroid?
High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes. Take Synthoid, Spironolactone,Glyburide,Lisinopril (25/20) Atenelol,Metformin., Amlopodine (Norvasc). Spironolactone is only new one recently added. Since taking these meds, am having intense night cramps on legs and feet. Is this a side affect of one of these meds? Will increasing water intake adviseable to get rid of cramps?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Venkatesh's Response
Hello dear, I understand your concern. Spironolactone is a Potassium channel diuretic. It may rise your serum potassium level which may be the cause of your muscle cramps. You have to check your serum sodium, potassium levels. If the serum potassium is high you have to reconsider the spironolactone. Thank you
