What Causes Leg Pain After Having An Injury?

Hi...yesterday I simply jumped to hit the door frame but I was wearing non supportive shoes and I landed awkwardly. Throughout the rest of yesterday and today, the back of my knee is in serious pain and it is difficult to straighten my leg and even walk. What could I have done?
