What Causes Leg Pain After Increasing Amlodipine Dosage?

I am on amlodipine 5 mg having had a mini stroke on July 10th also taking baby aspirin. my doctor added Valsrtan 40mg this week to be sure to keep the pressure down...I had a reaction to it so we stopped it after two days and she doubled the amodipine...when I took it last night I woke up with leg pains again....I was doing fine with just the 5mg...a bit spotty but now I am steady at around 125/68....what would happen if I didn t take the second dose of amlidipine to day?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

One of the common symptoms of Amlodipine is muscle camps .In my opinion you symptoms are related to this side effect.I suggest you to use muscle relaxants and if the symptoms continue you should get an alternative medication.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
