What Causes Leg Pain And Swollen Ankles After Taking Lopid?
Hi, I take Lopid 600 mg twice a day and I am experiencing severe bilateral leg pain and both ankles are very swollen. The bottom of my feet burn with redness. I have been diagnosed with neuropathy. Could this medication be contributing severity to the neuropathy? My doctor tells me that there is nothing he can do. I would like to stop this medication for 7-14 days on my own to see if my side effects improve. Please advise. Joanne
Its most common side effects include myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness), stomach upset, liver dysfunction, gallstones, etc.
Based on the history you seem to have developed myopathy. It is unlikely to cause neuropathy.
I advise you to stop taking this medication and consult your treating physician to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medication like Cholestyramine to reduce your high triglycerides.
Hope this will help.
