What Causes Leg Palpitations?

I'm 34 and have been experiencing palpitations on my right leg. It all started during the night (I was awaken by it several times) and continues uninterruptedly while I am seating at work. It's not painful, just annoying. It is a repetitive palpitation with a pace similar to my hart rate.
What would be the cause of this? Should I see a doctor?
