What Causes Leg Swelling After Taking Gabapentin Post Skin Grafting?

i was given Gasapentin after a skin graft on my lower leg. i have noticed this past week my leg and foot has been swelling up. i was told to wrap my leg, like in a compression style. After keeping my leg elevated for over three days the swelling has reduced some, but not a lot. Could this drug that i have never taken before be part of this problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your [dermatologist] and do a CBC with differential to confirm it.

2)Discuss with your Doctor about oral antibiotic for 14 days if infection is suspected.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Wash your wound daily with soap and water. Do this gently as part of your normal bathing.

2)Apply a protective cream or ointment. For most surface wounds, an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment (Neosporin, Polysporin, others) provides adequate protection.

3)Try to cover your wound with a bandage. Change bandages at least daily.
Watch for signs of infection. Redness, pain and drainage all signal possible infection and the need for medical evaluation.

Hope that helps
