Hello Doctor,
In October 2009 I had acute onset (over a weekend) of a very heavy sensation in my legs, particularly in my lower thighs and upper calves. I also had a 'pulled muscle' sensation in my biceps. I developed pins and needles down both ulnar sides of my arms and hands. Other symptoms included dizziness, muscle twitching and my left foot felt like it was in water. I also have dry skin and central clearing rashes on my torso and legs. Apart from the sensation in my left foot all symptoms have been fairly symmetrical.
Since then all the symtpoms have very slowly improved. I still get cramping in my calves, particularly if I walk fast or try to run - this occurs AFTER I stop moving. I have not noticed any loss of strength only a sensation of weakness and cramping in my legs.
Before becoming unwell I ran daily, usually between 3-10 miles. I also was under a large amount of work stress for the preceeding three years. I had iliotibial band syndrome on both legs in 2008. I wore straps for this until june 2009.
I have consulted my local GP and hospital clinic over the last 15 months but after receiving normal results for blood work on three occasions I have had no further advice. What would be some possible causes for my symptoms? Does the gradual improvement suggest a full (eventually?)
Many thanks,
Matt
