What Causes Lesions On Lips And Brittle Nails In An Elderly Woman?
My mom, who is about 78, has symptoms of wrinkly hands, more so than normal and it appeared rather suddenly. Also, her fingernails are suddenly very brittle and splitting down the center, vertically. She has also developed lesions, almost like cold sores, on her lower lip. Can you tell me what this might indicate.

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Sorry to read about the turn in health of your mother. What you describe to me is most likely related to vitamin deficiency like Zinc, Vitamin C or magnesium. You should make sure that she is getting a balanced diet where she is getting all the required nutrients. Vit B and D will cause alot of skin findings and lip cracking and dryness. while I hope this answers your question. Good luck.
