Hi, I am abida age 22 yrs. I am hearing a low sound one of my ears for 10 months. Another one is normal. Sometimes its inside found a little wet when I enter a cotton butt but no blood or anything. There is a sound all time I here like air blowing (like shshsh …). I took some antibiotics but got no result. I have gastric. What can I do now.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about a 22 year old female having reduced hearing from one ear for 10 months, some sound like blowing air, little wet on cleaning with ear bud, have gastric also. Since you are only 22 years old the problem is most probably a local one like perforated ear drum, middle ear infection, adhesion, immobile body chain and so on.

Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, an actual endoscopy of ears, nose and throat to know the primary and secondary problems.
- Audiometry to know the stage of hearing loss and to know whether conductive hearing loss or sensori-neural hearing loss needing hearing aid.
- Simple cleaning of impacted wax if present can clear your problem.

If the problem is in middle ear then a course of proper antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant may help. If the medical line of treatment fails then you may need a surgery but no would give you the guarantee. If otosclerosis is present then the hearing is improved on-spot in operation theater.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
