What Causes Light Bleeding And Bloating During Periods?

Hi, I took the morning after pill on 10th April. I came on my period last Saturday which was exactly when I was due. However it has been extremely light, more like spotting than an actual period and I am normally really heavy. I have also noticed that my stomach is extremely bloated! Is this normal? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The stomach ache is gastric upset related to morning after pill intake.

* The light bleed is concerned with hormone changes following emergency contraceptive pill rather than other issue.

Should wait for a period of one menses cycle, to get back normal physiological rhythm.

Meanwhile, take care for necessary protection during intercourse and avoid further use of emergency contraception till further one month time period.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
