What Causes Light Bleeding And Weight Loss During Pregnancy?

I just found out I was pregnant a week ago and I started bleeding on Monday. Light period. I am 39 and the pregnancy was not planned. I had a Blight pregnancy earlier this year in October also not planned both on birth control. I am having blood tests now to see if I am in miscarriage. My question is about weight loss I have lost 4 pounds this week and I know I have not bled that much. I have lost 6 pounds since finding out I was pregnant. I have not been throwing up. I have had no cramping just mild discomfort. What could be going on.

Hi,
You have significant loss of weight. This cannot be attributed to the diagnosis of pregnancy, more so since you are able to take food normally, I presume. You need to see a physician for evaluation and check for signs of infection and other causes for this weight loss. As far as your pregnancy is concerned, the blood tests if done as serial tires along with trans-vaginal sonogram will help to reveal any miscarriage. Doubling of titres every 2-3 days indicates good progress, while fall suggests missed pregnancy. Hope this helps.
