What Causes Light Bleeding For 4 Days?

I have been bleeding lightly for four days now and I am 44 years old - I am at mid-cycle. Called my gyno and he said I am probably hormonal - I noticed that some blood came out of my urethra, (pink colored) but when I tried using a tampon = some blood was in that area too. I also have a history of interstitial cystitis/ Is it possible to have blood coming from both areas? No other symptoms.
