What Causes Light Headedness Along With Difficulty In Breathing?

I am 64 and in pretty good shape. I lift weights 3-4 times a week and have been doing this for over 40 years. Today I walked a mile in 13 minutes and them started working out. I did a set of 50 push-ups and then did some leg curls and then leg extensions. I found that I was having trouble with my breathing and seemed to be having a difficult time recovering. I continued my workout and did over 200 push-ups and 8 more sets of leg curls and extensions. I stretched, but was still feeling light headed. Finally I started feeling better after about an hour. I drank about a tablespoon of vinegar and ate an apple before I worked out. I am 5 9 and weigh 215 lbs. My waist is only 36 if that gives you an idea of my body type.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of light headedness along with difficulty in breathing . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD , bronchitis , acid reflux or angina . Sinusitis can also cause such symptoms or laryngitis or asthma can also cause such symptoms .

You should avoid intake of large meals at a time and take small and frequent meals. You should avoid sleep immediately after having food. Take gelusil after each meal to avoid digestion problem.

If there is shortness of breath , dizziness and fatigue then consult cardiologist without any delay .For now take steam and do warm saline gargles. Doctor may also refer you to allergy specialist for condition like asthma or chest specialist for chest infection .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
