What Causes Light Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi! For the past 15 years I have been having consistently heavy periods that last approx 6 days accompanied by extreme cramps along with other symptoms. The month, my period is very light with no cramping... And it only lasted 2 days. It arrived on time and the colour was also concerning as usually is a very dark red with clots, this months it was a mahogany colour. I done a pregnancy test and this was negative. It is just so out of character! Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Ther are many possible factors that could cause continuous menstrual bleeding or worsen the underlying imbalance, including:
-Stress
-Starting or stopping birth control
-Inserting an intrauterine device (IUD)

So ,if the situation continue, I suggest to see a gynecologist a do a complete check up and also a gynecological ultrasound for further evalaution.

Kind regards!
