General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Femilon is an oral contraceptive ,it contains a combination of hormones that help prevent pregnancy , so yes, it may help regulate your menstrual cycle, if the irregularities are occurring due to hormonal imbalance .
So this drug was prescribed to you for regularization of menstruation .
Such type of menstruation , as you mentioned in the query is not normal .
If you are taking first time ,then this is not a cause of concern , because in that case menses may be due to hormones .
But ,if you have taken for irregular bleeding ,then take this drug till directed by your gynaecologist .
Good luck.
