What Causes Light Period In A 40 Year Old Woman?

For the past few months, my period has lasted pretty much just one day. And it s very light. At first I figured it was just because I am getting older (recently turned 40), but after looking around online it seems like there could be more to it. I haven t noticed any other new symptoms and I am not pregnant. Could it just be my age or should I see a doctor?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. If you are experiencing regular cycles with diminished flow, it is possible that the endometrial lining is not as much formed as in a normal cycle and this is suggestive usually if hormone deficiency. You have to get a complete hormone assay to detect if you have entered the perimenopause. Further management can be planned accordingly. Take care.
