General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Home pregnancy test is reliably positive after 8 days delay. If you have delayed periods each month and have positive pregnancy test at desired time (8 days late in periods). There are two possibilities: 1) You have a false positive test (maybe due to contaminated container or contaminated urine sample) 2) There is possible chemical pregnancy 3) You have a menstrual irregularity which needs to be investigated and treated, before expecting a pregnancy Please consult gynecologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
