What Causes Light Purple Patches On The Legs?

Well I saw these light purple patches all over my legs and it literally appeared out of nowhere. It looks like someone put a thin layer of dry purple skin on my legs. It goes away a little bit and then comes right back. Should I go the emergency room? Or wait till Monday and see my primary?
