What Causes Light Red Patches After Strenuous Exercise?

Just got back from a run, noticed light red patches that were anywhere from an inch to seven inches across and irregular in shape. They slowly disappeared after 3 minutes of rest. I concluded that they appeared due to strenuous exercise, but I m not sure what they were or whether I should be worried about them. Any ideas?

Hello,

These red patches could be related to an allergy reaction, maybe due to physical exertion. If this situation repeats, I would recommend performing some tests:
- Allergy tests
- Complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- Thyroid hormone levels
You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
