What Causes Light Sensitivity Post Eye Injury?

I was throwing and catching a football yesterday with my son and one hit me in the eye. It hurt for a minute but I noticed when I woke up this morning, it hurt every time I look at bright lights and then goes away. Should I be concerned or just wait it out?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HELLO,
i can understand your concern. photo sensitivity is a very common concern after an eye injury. this usually subsides on its own in a few days time. you need not worry about it much. i would advise lubricating eye drops like refresh tears two times a day. this would sooth the eye and relieve the symptoms. if the pain is unbearable anti inflammatory drugs like aceclofenac can be taken twice a day. hope you are satisfied with the response. thanks for choosing HCM
